EPISODE 58: TRUST, VULNERABILITY, & COMMUNITY

Episode Summary

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater meaning in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.” — Brené Brown

We can’t have conversations about faith and transformation without trust and vulnerability coming up. This week we discuss how to build trust in ourselves and in our communities. It often means we have to be willing to get open and vulnerable. Vulnerability doesn’t come after trust — it precedes it. Leaping into the unknown, when done alongside others, causes the solid ground of trust to materialize beneath our feet.

Like we begin our discussion with basic understanding of trust, vulnerability, and vulnerability based trust. Whether it is a faith group or a corporation the way to build trust is the same. We have all been in situations where we want to trust someone but there are red flags warning us not to.

Join us as we dive deep and we challenge you to live your life with more mistakes and vulnerability so you are more willing to build trust in yourself and your community.

GO BOLDLY HOMEWORK

To practice vulnerability in your home/community choose an opportunity where you could do so. This could be sharing a mistake with a friend that you wouldn’t normally do so or in an organization and setting an example for others, etc. Make yourself vulnerable in the eyes of others. Like we begin our discussion with basic understanding of trust, vulnerability, and vulnerability based trust. Whether it is a faith group or a corporation the way to build trust is the same. We have all been in situations where we want to trust someone but there are red flags warning us not to.
